Recognizing the Signs

Signs You Might Notice

These are common signs, not a diagnosis. A psychiatric evaluation is the best way to understand what you are experiencing.

Experiencing periods of elevated energy, racing thoughts, or a decreased need for sleep.

Experiencing periods of persistent sadness, hopelessness, or significant fatigue.

Engaging in impulsive spending, increased risk-taking, or decisions with unintended consequences.

Experiencing rapid speech, increased goal-directed activity, or impulsive behaviors.

Experiencing significant mood changes that appear disproportionate to circumstances or daily experiences.

Experiencing disruptions in work responsibilities, sleep patterns, or daily routines.

Your Care Journey

What to Expect During Care

Care usually begins with a psychiatric evaluation and a conversation with a licensed clinician about your history, moods and goals. Together we build a plan that combines medication management, if you choose it, with therapy and practical support. You learn to track your moods and spot early warning signs, and we review your plan with you regularly.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Can bipolar disorder be managed without medication?

Medication is an important part of treatment for many people with bipolar disorder. We explain the options clearly, and decisions are always made with you.

How often will I see the prescriber?

After your first evaluation, follow ups are usually every few weeks at first, then spaced out as things settle.

What happens if I have an episode during treatment?

Tell your care team as early as you can. We adjust your plan and can step up your support, including IOP. In an emergency, call 911 or 988.

Is bipolar treatment covered by insurance?

Many insurance plans cover psychiatric care, therapy and IOP. We work with a growing number of plans, offer self-pay and sliding-scale fee options, and check your coverage before you start.
